I. INTRODUCTION:
The course is delivered by qualified trainers who are experienced in emergency response and first aid provision. They will guide learners through practical demonstrations and scenarios to ensure that they are able to apply their skills in a real-life situation. The course is designed to be interactive and engaging, allowing learners to ask questions, share experiences and learn from one another.
II. COURSE OBJECTIVES:
By the end of the course, Delegates will be able to:
- Knowledge: delegates must have a solid understanding of the basic principles of first aid, including the body’s systems and responses to injury, as well as the types of medical emergencies and injuries they may encounter.
- Observation and assessment: delegates must be able to assess the severity and urgency of an emergency situation, and identify any potential hazards or risks to themselves and others.
- Decision-making: Based on their observations and assessments, delegates must be able to make informed decisions about the most appropriate course of action, including whether to call for professional medical help, and what first aid measures to apply.
- Communication: delegates must be able to communicate effectively with the casualty, other bystanders, and emergency services personnel, conveying clear and concise information about the situation and any first aid measures applied.
- Technical skills: delegates must be able to perform a range of technical skills, such as CPR, use of an AED, and application of bandages and dressings, with accuracy, precision, and attention to detail.
- Emotional intelligence: delegates must be able to manage their own emotions and respond sensitively and compassionately to the needs of the casualty and others affected by the emergency situation.
- Continuous learning: delegates must be willing to engage in ongoing learning and development, staying up-to-date with the latest first aid guidelines and best practices, and reflecting on their own performance and experiences to improve their skills and knowledge.
